The formative Project of the Ursuline Sisters of the Immaculate Virgin Mary has been prepared in three years with the participation of all the communities. The drawing up has been made by a commission of Sisters, with the guidance of Sister Pina del Core, daughter of Our Lady Help of Christians, Dean of the Pontificia Facoltà di Scienze dell’Educazione “Auxilium” in Rome.
The Project meets John Paul II’ s request in Vita consecrate (1996) that urged all the institutes to “elaborate a ratio institutionis as soon as possible, in other words “to elaborate a formative project inspired to an institutional Charism, where the path to follow will completely absorb the institute spirituality in a dynamic and clear way” (no 68).
The novelty of this Project, compared with the previous ones of 1970 and 1988, is in the presentation of the “charismatic identity of the Ursulines” (chap. 1) and of the formative model, rediscovered in the last decades thanks to the systematic consideration of the whole institute.
The structure of the Project has also changed: the chapters about the initial formation come after a wide treatment on the various steps of the permanent forming, considered as the horizon of the initial forming.
This underlines that the dynamic forming of postulants, novices and juniors is influenced by the quality life of adults Ursulines, continuously committed to elaborate a clear charismatic identity.
The Project ends with the chapter about the coordination while forming, as one of the concrete expressions of the prophecy of “togetherness”.
