Brescia, Pinacoteca Tosio Martinengo. The restoration of a pictorial cycle of Pompeo Ghitti
In the bicentenary of Saint Angela's canonization, some very significant paintings were displayed in the rooms of the Pinacoteca. They effectively document the iconography of the saint and the veneration which was always accorded to her.
For the bicentenary of the canonization (1807-2007), the Company of Saint Ursula, Daughters of Saint Angela of Brescia, promoted the restoration of a pictorial cycle dedicated to the salient events of Angela Merici's life. The first restored painting, belonging to the cycle of Pompeo Ghitti, a Brescian painter (1631-1703), is presented in this catalogue.
