Orsoline America del Nord
The logo of the North American Ursuline Convocation

This mandala is the work of Agatha Fitzgerald, OSU, of Brown County in the USA. It was the logo of the North American Ursuline Convocation (July 4-7, Cincinnati, Ohio). Sister Agatha's explanation follows.

Fotografia

At the center of the logo is our Mother Saint Angel, reaching out to all of her daughters, who encircle her. The heads represent all of us, the daughters and sons, throughout the world, down through the centuries. Angela's hands touch into the circle of daughters and sons in order to enrich and encourage them.

Arrows are often used as a symbol of the martyrdom of Saint Ursula, our patroness. As arrowheads surround the daughters and sons, they suggest the urgency with which we send Angela's message and spirit into the future.

The outer circles are of varying sizes, some stretched to new shapes in order to accept Angela's message and spirit in new and transformed ways as Angela's circle is expanded.
